High-Low Dress at the Beach

Hey guys - back from vacation and as usual, my resolution to shoot a ton of outfit photos dissolved upon setting foot on the beach - BUT I GOT ONE IN. During my weeklong trip to Marco Island, I got most of the way through The Goldfinch (I’m a verrryy slow reader), fed a giraffe, finally got a tan, drank all the wine, swam laps in the ocean and got to see glowing particles on a kayak biolumiesense tour (SO COOL YOU GUYS.) To say the least, I had a pretty awesome time.

Here are a few snaps from our walk to a beachfront restaurant near my grandfather’s condo. My sister-in-law (who accompanied us on the trip with her hubby) got this dress for my birthday from a super cute boutique in Harrisonburg called The Yellow Button. I didn’t buy any high-low dresses all summer and now I AM KICKING MYSELF. I love this one and will be wearing it out until absolutely necessary.

Also #sorrynotsorry for hardly brushing my hair. It’s vacation and well, it was wine time... #priorities

How to Wear White After Labor Day

At the end of August every year, people always wonder the same question - can I really wear white after labor day? I’m happy to report that the answer is most definitely YES!

Since I wasn’t able to physically attend Fashion Week this year, I’ve resorted to stalking my friends who could attend and checking Who What Wear on a daily basis to keep up with runway trends and what everyone is wearing to shows. I’m actually quite surprised to see how much WHITE everyone is rocking! AFTER LABOR DAY!

Summer's Last White Dress

Remember last week when I told you that I was going to wear as much white as possible before labor day? TA-DA! 

I’ve had this sundress for two years and gotten a ton of wear out of it. I even have it in two colors and wore it for both my bridal shower and our engagement shoot a few years ago! As much as I love it, A plain white sundress can get a bit boring, so I paired it with my favorite new Halogen lace top (last seen here) and some cognac accessories. It looks like a totally new outfit! 

Although I’m sad to retire my plethora of sundresses, I’m excited about fall! The cozy knits, chunky boots and blanket scarves (currently craving all these blanket scarves from my friend’s shop!) I can’t wait to throw on layers upon layers, but not before we head to Florida for summer’s last hurrah next week! It’s our first beach trip of the summer and I literally CANNOT WAIT! Between that and shopping ALL DAY on labor day, I’d say we have a pretty exciting week in store. Be sure to follow me over on Instagram to keep up with what I’m wearing on vacation! Summer Layers

As August comes to an end (I’m not ready to let go of summer, you guys), in come the joys of layering. Although I’m not totally convinced it’s not the fashion industries way of making us spend more and more money, I’m all about staying warm in the cool summer evenings. 

I’m throwing it back today to earlier this Spring (wind-back Wednesdays anyone??) when I wore this bright pink blazer, which has totally been a staple this summer. The key to layering in summer is focusing on bright colors and light layers.

Cognac Heels + A Little White Dress

There are basically two weeks left until labor day. WHERE DID THIS SUMMER GO, GUYS?! While I am totally excited for all that Fall fashion has to offer, I'm not ready to give up this warm weather. I've basically decided to wear all the white I own (like this dress) for the next few weeks so I can get it all out of my system before the holiday that states we can wear white no more. Although, that seems like kind of a silly rule, no? Can we all decide to make this rule passé?!
