Nautical in the City

If I had to pick one style of clothing to wear for the rest of my life, I would hands-down pick nautical. It reminds me of summers spent in Charleston and winter breaks on Marco Island.

In celebration of Spring (FINALLY!), I dressed up a nautical outfit to be office appropriate by adding a bit of classy headband sparkle, a chic spring clutch, a few of my fave delicate jewels from She’s Unique, and short booties because these feet haven’t seen a pedicure in weeks. Also, my baby curls came out to play as a result of the humid temperatures…but I’d take them over the cold weather any day!

How are you celebrating the arrival of Spring?

Nice and Easy Does It

Last weekend, I spent the day taking behind-the-scenes photos for a fun shoot in Georgetown. I wanted to look stylish, but also mobile. I ended up with a soft white button up with stretchy black slacks. While my Frye boots have been my go-to lately, I can't wait to put these sore puppies in sandals in just a few short days and be rid of my winter clothes! Who's with me?!

On Julien: Black pants, Anthropologie (similar here.) Blouse, Lord & Taylor (similar from Anthropologie here.) Boots, Frye. Necklaces, She's Unique. Bangle bracelet, Lilly Pulitzer (similar here.) Sunnies, Michael Kors (similar here.) All photos by Alicia Chew.

Leather Boots and Denim Roots

On the weekends, I LIVE in my chambray. I’ll pair it with my coral lace skirt for date night, a cotton sweater for errands and yes, even my yoga pants for March Madness. But I would have NEVER expected to love wearing it with a fellow jean-like material. Until I tried it.

This denim-all-day trend takes me back to my childhood '90s roots - beautiful memories like playing dodge ball in my denim jacket, but also painful times, like watching Britney break poor Justin’s heart shortly after their jean-on-jean getup was featured on every grocery isle tabloid. And just like Justin found a new love, I’m finding a new love for all-things-denim.

Tell me, have you been bitten by the denim bug too?

On Julien: Chambray, JCREW Factory (similar on sale here). Jeans, Lucky Brand. Boots, Frye. Brooklyn Foldover clutch (on sale here!), K.Slademade. Jacket, Express (sort of similar here). Sunnies, Michael Kors (similar here). Earrings, Julie Vos. Necklace, Love Juliet. Location: Breaux Vineyards.

Special Delivery from Beauty Box 5

Is it just me, or do you absolutely love getting mail? I'll order things online just to feel the rush of checking that mailbox everyday for my special order. I love getting snail mail from friends, and I'm obsessed with the calligraphy course I'm taking on Skillshare.

I've always wanted to try out one of those beauty sample subscriptions, so when I found Beauty Box 5, I was totally stoked. When you subscribe with Beauty Box 5, they'll send you a mix of makeup, beauty accessories, hair, skincare, fragrance, body, and nail products...which is perfect for me since I just don't have the time to spend hours in Ulta (although if I had the time, I totally would.) Each month is $12, and if you sign up for a year, it's only $99. If you're interested in subscribing to their monthly awesomeness, you can subscribe here.

Not only do you get the box of sample goodies, but if you find a product you love, they have the full-sized version on their website at a fraction of the cost. The team over at Beauty Box 5 were sweet enough to send me a sample box so I could share my favorite finds with you! Take a look at my review of the products and pics below!

Check out my sparkly nails!

Check out my sparkly nails!

La Fresh Travel Lite Facial Cleansing Wipes: I SO wish I had these for my trip last month to Florida. These were great even on my sensitive skin and are THE perfect travel size.

NUBAR Glitter Nail Polish: I also loved this product. Speckles of gold are a major party for my nails. Check out the photo below to see just how awesome the sparkles are up close.

OFRA Lipgloss Plumper in Sultry: While I gave this color a try (see me sport it that one time I wore green), it just wasn’t my favorite lip gloss. Plus, my lips are already humungous and probably shouldn’t be any plumper.

Bellapierre Cosmetics Sparkle Shadow: This stuff is perfect for a girls night out. Turn up the Kesha and get your sparkle on.

H2O+ Face Oasis Hydrating Treatment: This was my absolute FAVORITE pick of the bunch. It’s super hydrating and makes my skin silky smooth. I am definitely buying the larger version of this because it is THAT good.

She's Unique Turns 2

One of my absolutely favorite mom-and-daughter jewelry shops, She's Unique, just had their second birthday. Naturally, I made my way into Old Town Alexandria for the mimosa-filled celebration!

Take a look at a few of the photos I snapped of the event below and feast your eyes on the tasty treats by Jessica (Adventures of a Repatriate) and the perfection that is every piece of jewelry (and candles) at She's Unique. I can't wait to show you the the silver studs and bar necklace I brought home!
