We Wear Pink on Tuesdays Too

May 20, 2014 Julien Garman

This past weekend, we found ourselves along the beautiful cobblestone streets of Old Town Alexandria for the grand reopening of The Pink Palm. To celebrate the occasion, I wore my brightest pinkest dress and my new Rebecca Minkoff bag (that I just got from their latest sample sale!) And since my legs haven’t seen much sun since last summer, these Hanes sunkissed tights gave me that summer vibe my legs desperately needed.

I can’t wait to show you the pics I took of The Pink Palm’s new digs - the store summertime perfection. After visiting the store, we took the (adorable) town trolley down to one of my fave jewelry shops, She’s Unique. We topped off our night at the cutest Greek restaurant, Taverna Cretekou. Their patio was so romantic - definitely the perfect way to finish our evening.

To kick off celebrating Memorial Day weekend, I'm giving away two pairs of Hanes Hosiery Silk Reflections tights...so even if you aren't heading to the beach this weekend, you can still get that sun kissed look! Enter the contest below and check out what I wore in Old Town. (P.S. Could this pink be any brighter?!)

Blush Blazer

May 16, 2014 Julien Garman

Let me tell you the story of my high school career. I played the semi-ditzy blonde, who was actually quite book smart (life-smart is a WHOLE β€˜NOTHER STORY) and spent her spare evenings leading the girl’s basketball team. I carried around a pink rolly backpack (why did someone not stop me from doing this?!), rebelled against the school uniform by wearing colorful socks, and was voted β€˜loudest’ for my senior superlative.

Do I regret some of those things? Of course - mostly the backpack thing, but if there’s one thing I don’t regret is making my favorite color known to everyone: PINK. All kinds of pink. In fact, my history teacher was convinced that someday I would own a store called β€œThe Pink Panther Boutique” and make millions (he even wrote it in my graduation Bible so I’d never forget!)

To this day, I still love pink. There’s something that just makes me so happy when I wear it, so when I saw this blush pink blazer at LOFT, I HADDD to have it. It’s fancy enough that I can wear it to work, but looks great when dressed down with jeans and pumps for a night out.

SPEAKING OF PINK - Pink Palm DC is having their Grand Reopening event tomorrow in Alexandria from 10-7! Will I see you there?!

Were you known for something in high school? If so, tell me in the comments below!

Linen Blazer

May 14, 2014 Julien Garman

Can you believe I’ve had this beautiful short-sleeved blazer in my closet UNWORN for the past year? Honestly, I had no idea how to style it. I’d paired it with slacks for work (BORING) but when I showed Shell B this trouble piece, she knew exactly what to do.

Unbelted and paired with a simple white tank, a few dangly necklaces and boyfriend shorts, this jacket went from not-so-safari-chic to OMG I’M NEVER TAKING THIS OFF. And while I’m typically hesitant to wear shorts (my days of 2-hour workouts are long gone), I love that these looser-fit ones don’t leave me feeling like I need to tug at them every 5 seconds.

Any others ideas on how I should style this blazer? I’d love your thoughts!

Blazer, Banana Republic (cute sleeveless version here and similar jacket version here.) Shorts, Martin & Osa (store closed, but similar boyfriend shorts here.) Pocket tank, Martin & Osa (similar here.) Shoes, DSW (similar here.) Headband, American Eagle (similar version with flowers here.) Chain necklace, thrifted (similar here.) Fuchsia necklace, Dandelion Patch. Bar necklace, She’s Unique. I Love You ring, Tiffany & Co. Sunnies, Michael Kors.

Light Hues and Wedding Shoes

May 12, 2014 Julien Garman

Recently, I had Shell B take a walk through my closet and help me style the clothes I already had. When she found my wedding shoes hiding beside my wedding gown, she inquired why I wasn’t wearing them on the daily. I honestly had no idea how to wear them with anything but an evening gown.  But thanks to Shelbs, I can’t stop wearing these Badgley Mischka beauties.

I paired these evening shoes with a silk sheath dress from J.CREW Factory and my favorite long blazer from Nordstrom for a dinner party on Capitol Hill. It’s the perfect combo because I can enjoy the warmer evenings without getting too cold when the temps drop. I added my bright DKNY purse for a little pop of color and tied it in with a fuchsia necklace. I probably should have worn tights (sorry, mom), but my legs needed a night on the town too.

ALSO - super excited to share that District Style interviewed me! Find out about my fave beauty products, what inspires me, and what's next for It's Julien here.

Dress, J.CREW Factory (similar polka dot version here - get an extra 30% off using code β€œSALE30” until 5/14.) Long blazer, Nordstrom. Mars Vida Launch

May 7, 2014 Julien Garman

Springtime FINALLY feels like it's arrived! But as much as I love this newfound warmth, it's also a harsh reminder that bikini season is right around the corner. And that means the dreaded bathing suit shopping.

Thankfully, there's a new swimsuit player in town. Mars Vida, a local online swimwear boutique featuring designs from South America, just launched last week. You guys, the suits are so adorable! But don't take my word for it - check them out for yourself!

I'll be doing a little interview in a few weeks with the creator of Mars Vida, Maria-Alejandra Avellaneda. (Spoiler alert: She's the sweetest!) In the meantime, check out the photos I snapped at the sold-out launch party she held at Smith Commons last week. Enjoy!
