Last week was really our first vacation of the year. We flew down to Florida, where my Papou has a condo and relaxed ALL WEEK. I had all these grand plans of doing tons of outfits posts (I only shot one, my bad guys) and getting tons of photos edited, but ended up spending all week swimming in the ocean, outlet shopping, reading my kindle (currently 75% of the way through The Goldfinch - so good) and eating tons of awesome food. I loved every moment of it. Below are a few snaps from our trip! Enjoy!
Free People Fall Style Party Recap
If you attended the Free People Fall Style Party a few weeks ago, you know a multitude of things:
1. You know that The Fashionably Broke girls (Nat and Erika) can host one HECK of a party and that Jessica makes one HECK of a party spread.
2. You know that the Free People at the Pentagon City Mall is literally the best. They carry Free Peopleâs line of shoes and under-awesomeness so just do yourself a favor and GET THERE STAT.
3. Fall is full of cozy goodness, frilly socks, lacy details, plaid perfection and wool hats galore and I JUST REALIZED IâM NOT EVEN READY FOR THIS AWESOMENESS. But thatâs ok because Free People is. (Dying over these boots and also this flannel top Natalie wore!)
Scroll below to see a few snaps from the party (here are the details on what I wore) and, better yet, swing over to the Free People at Pentagon City to see for yourself. What are you lusting over for fall?
Nighttime Polka Dots
Readers, meet the polka-dotted top from Anthropologie that I couldn't whip out my credit card fast enough for. Although it's sold out, this one is similar and just as cute. While I planned on wearing this outfit with pumps, I think these super cheap loafers (along with a messy pony) give this a more laid back feel. This outfit would have been perfect with a pair of black tasseled loafers (any suggestions on ones you love?)
Keeping it short and sweet cause I'm off to the beach - follow my adventures on Instagram!
Anthropologie top (sold out, but LOVE this one!) and pants (similar textured version), Kelly & Katie flats from DSW, Free People clutch c/o, She's Unique bracelets and necklace, Swell Caroline watch c/o and Kate Spade sunnies (similar.)
Summer's Last White Dress
Photos by Cheralee
Remember last week when I told you that I was going to wear as much white as possible before labor day? TA-DA!
Iâve had this sundress for two years and gotten a ton of wear out of it. I even have it in two colors and wore it for both my bridal shower and our engagement shoot a few years ago! As much as I love it, A plain white sundress can get a bit boring, so I paired it with my favorite new Halogen lace top (last seen here) and some cognac accessories. It looks like a totally new outfit!
Although Iâm sad to retire my plethora of sundresses, Iâm excited about fall! The cozy knits, chunky boots and blanket scarves (currently craving all these blanket scarves from my friendâs shop!) I canât wait to throw on layers upon layers, but not before we head to Florida for summerâs last hurrah next week! Itâs our first beach trip of the summer and I literally CANNOT WAIT! Between that and shopping ALL DAY on labor day, Iâd say we have a pretty exciting week in store. Be sure to follow me over on Instagram to keep up with what Iâm wearing on vacation! Do you have any fun labor day plans?
On Julien: J.Crew Factory dress (old), Halogen top (on sale!), H&M crossbody bag (in stores only, similar), The Mint Julep Boutique âEllieâ booties c/o, Love Juliet bangle and ring c/o, Kate Spade sunnies (similar.)
Summer Layers
As August comes to an end (Iâm not ready to let go of summer, you guys), in come the joys of layering. Although Iâm not totally convinced itâs not the fashion industries way of making us spend more and more money, Iâm all about staying warm in the cool summer evenings.
Iâm throwing it back today to earlier this Spring (wind-back Wednesdays anyone??) when I wore this bright pink blazer, which has totally been a staple this summer. The key to layering in summer is focusing on bright colors and light layers.
Iâm also teaming up with a few other fab bloggers to share their layering style. I love Jalpa's shorts with metallic shoes and Amanda's sweet jean jacket! Check them out below - whatâs your favorite way to layer up in the summer?!
On Julien: J.Crew Factory dress (love this similar one on sale!), Vince Camuto blazer (similar), Nordstrom scarf (dying over this colorful option), C.Wonder bracelet (similar), Capwell+Co ring (similar), Candies heels (on sale for $24!) borrowed, DKNY purse (similar) and Michael Kors sunnies.
