You know how sometimes you wear an outfit and feel infinitely cool and awesome just for putting 2 and 2 together? It doesn't happen often for me, but TODAY IS ONE OF THOSE DAYS. I don't know what it is, but the combination of this JEM scarf with the bold blazer creates so many happy feels for me.

The happy feels continued with my selection of jewelry from Rocksbox. Rocksbox is basically the netflix of jewelry - you pay $19 a month and get hand-selected items that match your personality and style! They send you 3 items at a time, if you like them, you keep 'em. If you don't want to buy? Just sport them for a few days and send them back for a new box of jewels. You can do this as many times as you want per month. And the jewelry they offer include some of my very favorite jewelry brands like Loren Hope, House of Harlow 1960, Margaret Elizabeth and Gorjana. And It's Julien readers can get a FREE MONTH to try it out! You get a free month, I get $25 shopping credit...literally everybody wins. But this is the last week, so act fast!

Bull+Moose Bow Tie

I love a good style challenge.

You can’t wear a crop top to work! Watch me.

You shouldn’t wear a slouchy jumpsuit to the office. I will find a way.

Now I’m trying something that’s not exactly on-trend (yet) but that I just needed to explore. Wearing a bow tie.

My hubby got this one a few months ago from our fave tie guy, Diego from Bull+Moose. I’d been in love with it since I discovered the line and had to buy it for my hubs. He wore it (adorably, I might add) but I wanted to give him a run for his money. Maybe we post a ‘who wore it better’ segment on here soon, yes? ;)

I threw on my favorite J. Crew hacking blazer, and a more feminine skirt to *TIE* the look together (see what I did just there???)

I must say, having my shirt buttoned all the way was a little uncomfortable, but I got so many compliments on it that I would totally do wear it again. Plus, Bull+Moose is a local company based out of Alexandria and supports veteran charities, which I’m all about - especially since tomorrow is Veteran’s Day! I’m totally swooning over their latest collection that just launched last week and dying to snag one for my hubby for Christmas! You can get 25% for Veteran's Day using code: vetsday

What do you think of the look? Should I continue finding ways to style a bow-tie or leave it to the boys? I want to hear your thoughts in the comment section below!

Free People Poncho

Free People Poncho

This season’s trends have hit me hard. Some years, I can pass on the majority of ‘fads’ (no thanks, sneaker heels…and let’s have a hard pass on the normcore trend) but I am loving everything fall has to offer this year. Lately, Free People has been my fix. Their warm weather layers of fuzzy sweaters and plaid glory have got me hooked.

I popped into the Free People location in Bethesda (if you haven’t been, please do yourself a favor and GET THERE - their styling team is so good it’s ridiculous) looking for something fun (and warm) for fall. I walked out with this to-die-for poncho that I haven’t stopped wearing since. It’s primarily black, so it basically goes with everything I own, but also has the prettiest mix of grey, oxblood and tan to blend all my favorite neutrals for this season. And while it’s perfect for fall, I can throw on a turtle neck underneath when the weather gets colder to keep the poncho happy feels going all winter long. Oh and this poncho? It’s only $48!

I wore this while visiting one of my favorite wineries in the area, Stone Tower Winery. It has such a gorgeous setting and the wine is TO. DIE. FOR. It was a bit windy, which isn’t entirely ideal for photos, but it gives you an opportunity to see this adorable bralette that has also been on repeat in my wardrobe. It’s so much prettier than my go-to tee-shirt bras (AMIRIGHT ladies?!)

Muchos gracias to the babes at the Bethesda Free People for sending me home with these goodies to share with you! Their store is located at 7101 Democracy Blvd. in Bethesda, MD.

Yellow Coat

I love a good sale story. This jacket caught my eye last spring. I imagined Olivia Pope wearing it to a meeting with a client or out to dinner with Jake (or the president…I can’t keep up with her these days!) It was this beautiful, buttery yellow…perfect in every way. However, the price tag wasn’t perfect for my pocket. So I waited. And waited.

I had saved the coat in my bookmarks (because of course I did) and mid-summer, it went on sale. And that had one left in my size. Down from $200 to $69? It was basically free.

If you ever find you in this predicament, visit Rack It Up. They’ll notify you when an item you’re loving goes on sale. I mean - does it get any better than that? (Answer: No. No it does not.)

Also can we talk about this bag? It’s one of my favorite finds ever and best of all, it only looks expensive. People literally DO NOT believe me when I tell them this bag was only $60. When I found it on Mimi’s The Look, I’ll admit I was wary. It’s so hard to tell the quality of a bag from photos, but let me tell you. This bag looks and feels like a million bucks (okay, realistically like $1,400 but you get my drift.) BETTER YET! Save 20% when using this special code: ITSJULIEN

Sweater Weather

Light pink sweater.
Cool weather.
Nothing better.

Guys, I think I missed my calling as a poet/rapper! ;)

Really though, there is nothing I love more than a great sweater when the temps drop. I snagged this one at H&M for under $20. It felt like stealing, honestly. I’ve worn it about 5000 times already, mostly with sweatpants after work. But when I was invited to a rooftop get together, I knew I had to spice it up. Insert heels. (Ta-da! This is me spicing things up.) These heels have been one of my best buys. They were final sale at J.CREW and so cheap I couldn’t say no. I paid under $50 for them and they are most definitely the most comfortable heels I own.
