Hair Debut and Lucy Marie

August 5, 2015 Julien Garman

If you’ve been following along over on Instagram or snapchat, you’ll know I made a pretty big chop last week. But for those who didn’t catch it, I CUT MY HAIR! I’m mildly obsessed with my new ‘do and don’t know why it took me so long to take the plunge! I don’t even miss my longer locks. Not even a little.

Huge shout out to Nadine over at PR at Partners on K Street for such a sick chop and golden locks. She gave me partial highlights, but I’m heading back to see her in a few months so she can paint strands, which will take it to an entirely new level of amazingness.

Onto the outfit - I wore this for a night out with a few girlfriends. I had to wear my new Tibi top, but kept it simple with my new jeans from Lucy Marie and M.Gemi pumps. Let me just talk about these jeans for a sec…ever since starting my healthy eating regimen, I’ve been on the hunt for jeans that fit. And these have the “Lucy Lift” which lifts the bum area and hugs your curves in all the right places. If you love them as much as I do, they suggest ordering a size down.

Thanks for reading! If you want to be the first to hear about awesome hair cuts, killer mail days and what I’m cookin’ up, follow along on Snapchat, Instagram and Twitter! (@juliengarman) And stay up-to-date with posts by subscribing!

Diamonds are a girl’s best friend.

And while this sounds lovely, it sure is hard to come by diamonds in your mid-twenties. Have I seen some I’ve loved and thought I needed? YES. This ring from David Yurman has been on my wish list for the past three years. And while real diamonds are a bit out of reach at this stage in my life, I sure do love my some like-diamonds. But even diamond-look-alikes can cost a lot of money. This necklace from Loren Hope? $160. Am I obsessed with it? YES. Is it realistic with my budget to go around buying a bunch of necklaces from her collection? Unfortunately no.

Enter Rocksbox…a jewelry rental service that sends me unlimited jewelry each month to try on for size. If I find a piece and can’t part with it, I can buy it at a discounted price. And if I decide I may be able to live without it, I send it back in exchange for a new set of jewels. How fun is that?!

Here’s the low down - each time Rocksbox sends you a box, it has three pieces in it. You curate your favorite pieces from their website so the stylists can figure out what pieces you’ll love. Last month, they sent me a set with the Trina Turk bracelet seen here and I had to have it. So I bought it! They have tons of my fave brands on their site like Gorjana, Loren Hope, House of Harlow, Kendra Scott and so many more.

I’m crazy about this service. I love being able to jazz up my jewelry collection without having to spend an arm and a leg on high-end boutique jewelry. Yesterday, I actually told two people about the service on a whim. One was a coworker who complimented another Loren Hope necklace I received, and another was my Uber driver, who asked me about my thoughts on subscription services on the way to an event at J.Crew. When I love something, I talk about it.

Rocksbox sent me some jewelry to try for free, and they want to send you some to try FOR FREE too! Head to Rocksbox.com and use promo code: JULIENXOXO for your free month. If you love it, the next month is $19…and if not, you can cancel after your free month. Pretty sweet deal, right?

I've had my eye on this sweater for a while now. The coziness, the slouchiness, it's like it was begging me to wear it. There was just one problem. It's on the right side of the closet - my husband's side.

One day, I casually mentioned wanting to use the sweater for a shoot. Let's just say he wasn’t wild about the idea. I can't really blame him - I’m the messy, spill-stuff-all-over-myself type. Knowing that it’s one of his favorites, I had to be very sneaky about wearing it.

Before running out the door one morning (as one usually does), I threw on my peacoat over the sweater, buttoned it up all the way and gave the hubs a quick kiss goodbye. I had succeeded! Until, that is, when I came home and completely forgot about my brilliant plan. But I wasn’t even sorry. The heart wants what the heart wants.

For a day at the office, I tucked in the sweater (just in the front) and paired it with my favorite Achro crop top from Anthom (which you totally saw earlier this week but I’m not even sorry.) Here’s the truth - I dress and shop based on emotions…Not what always matches or goes by conventional rules. I wear what makes me happy.

And this outfit makes me very happy.

On Julien: Cardigan, Banana Republic (men's, similar.) Top, Achro via Anthom. Pants, unknown. Shoes, Call It Spring (borrowed.) Map necklace, Three Jane NY c/o (now sold at A.JAFFE) Stars necklace, Gorjana via Rocksbox (get a free month subscription using code julienxoxo.)

It’s come down to the last vacation post! Say goodbye to palm trees and hello to bare trees. But I’ll take the bare trees over snowy ones ANY DAY.

This little number was worn multiple times on our trip. I wore it to a cooler dinner one night here, down to the beach and even to pick up goodies from the farmer’s market.

With a blank slate, I had such a fun time piling on the brightly colored accessories. The blue necklace from Starletta Designs was handmade in Canada and reminds me of the one in Titanic. But it's way better since it didn't fall into the ocean at the end. Use code JULIEN20 for 20% off your entire order!

The compass necklace was a gift from my hubby on one of his business trips to Maine and a nod to my love for all-things-nautical. I couldn’t stop wearing this necklace and tassel bracelet were from Capwell + Co because they added such a fun statement to every outfit I wore.

Although I’m sad to be posting my last warm weather shoot, I’m thrilled that the weather is finally starting to cooperate. I MEAN, yesterday was like 70 degrees. Can we please have weather like that every day?

Tied

February 18, 2015 Julien Garman

I'm going to just go ahead and admit defeat. Winter, you are KILLING my soul (also my vibe.) You've turned me into a grouchy, go-to-bed early monster with little to no self esteem. Ok, maybe I'm slightly over-exaggerating (not really), but I am literally counting the days (one month, two days) until spring arrives.

I really loved the little taste of spring we got a few weeks ago. Remember that one Sunday? Man I miss that day. While I was originally wearing this turtleneck over my lace dress, I tied it around my waist once it started warming up. I really love the slimming effect it has. And yes, I know cold weather is here for another two months, but I can't stop thinking about springtime picnics, starting our garden, enjoying brunch on our deck, and getting back into exercising outside...dear spring, COME SOON!
